Africa Travel Guide

Get an insight to Christina and David’s honeymoon in Africa.
In this blog, we share details on places where they stayed, wined and dined. We hope you enjoy reading this blog and maybe even inspire you to travel to Africa one day!

When Christina and David first landed in Africa (22 hours later,) they went straight to their hotel. They stayed in the award winning boutique hotel, Silo Hotel at the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town in the Deluxe Superior Suite.

Christina and David took a private guided day trip with Explore Sideways. They visited Grander Bay Farmer Market where they got to experience the most iconic breakfast and coffee. Explored the historic beauty of Cape Town like a local by visiting the famous Company Gardens in the center of Cape Town’s 'city bowl’. After, they visited the famous brightly coloured houses of the BO-KAAP & learned about the heritage of the vibrant Cape Malay people. And ended the day with a bike ride along the sea point promenade.

(& of course Christina had to stop along the way to take pictures of her jewelry.)

The next day, they did something SO wild and SO scary.. I can't even imagine. Shark Diving..BUT the following day, they did something more of what majority of us would prefer, hang out with penguins at Boulder Beach.

Christina and David's favorite lunch spot in Cape Town ended up being Wolfgat. It's a top restaurant in the world right now. Wolfgat was recently named the world’s no. 1 “off-map destination” by the World Restaurant Awards. They had to drive two hours to get to the restaurant.. but the food was worth it!

Then just like that, they were off to the Cape Winelands.

They stayed at the Babylonstoren Farm Hotel in a Fynbos Cottage.

Awaiting for them here was, a helicopter tour, a couples massage, wine tasting and amazing food.

They enjoyed lunch at Delaire Graff Restaurant.
Delaire Graff Estate is a world-leading destination for wine, art & hospitality in an unrivaled setting. Designed with the discerning global traveler in mind, savoir breath-taking views of the Stellenbosch Valley. After, they enjoy a nice relaxing couples massage. For dinner, they dined at Babel at Babylonstoren
One of many favorite wine tasting was, Babylonstoren

After spending two nights at the Babylonstoren Farm & Hotel, they were off to La Residence in Franschhoek and stayed in a Superior Suite. Where they enjoyed more wine tasting and food pairing.

Then they left Cape Town and flew to Skukuza and stayed at the Lion Sands Ivory Lodge.

Christina and David experienced Safari drives twice a day here. One night they got to stay the in the Kingston Treehouse for a super romantic night under the African Stars!

Next, they were off to the coastal town of Vilanculos and were transferred by helicopter to a private island. They stayed at andBeyond Benguerra in a Casinha.

One thing Christina and David did here, was a Dhow Cruise. A traditional dhow is a wooden sailing vessel owned by one of the local people of the island and mostly used for fishing. A friendly fisherman picked them up from their Cabana in the late afternoon and cruised around the bay.
They spent four romantic nights on this island before heading home back to Houston.

Cheers to the newlywed couple, Christina & David McAllen.
